    Ramoche Temple

Ramoche Temple, located in the old urban area of Lhasa, is merely 1 kilometer away from Jokhang Temple. There is also a Tibetan style street surrounding Ramoche Temple. But the street does not become as famous as Barkhor Street since the mainly sales there are daily supplies. Ramoche Temple is the Gyuto Tantric University for Tibetan monks to practice Tantra, covering an area of 4,000 square meters. Today only the bottom temple was built in the earlier construction, and 10 columns inside which are barely considered Tibetan relics, are carved with lotus, as well as flowers, cirrus, jewelry and Om mani padme hum. Built in the middle of the seventh century, Ramoche Temple was the early famous temple in Tibet, and later became one of the gyutos of Tantra hall of Gelug Sect. In the middle of the seventh century, when the Jokhang Temple was undergoing construction, Princess Wencheng selected the site for Ramoche Temple and designed it. One year later the temple was made and the gate faced toward the east. In the Ramoche Temple, what is enshrined is the life-size statue of 8-year-old Shakyamuni Buddha brought by Princess Bhrikuti from Nepal.
