    Yumbu Lhakhang Palace

Yumbu Lhakhang Palace, the first palace in the Tibetan history, which dates back to 2100 years ago, means "Palace for Mother and Son" in Tibetan. The shape of Tashi Tsering Mountain is like a calmly lying female deer. In Tibetan language, “Yumbu"” means a female deer, "la" means the hind leg and "Khang" means palace. When they are combined altogether, “Yumbu Lhakhang” means "Palace on the hindleg of a female deer", which makes people feel gentle and peaceful. But the first impression that Yumbu Lhakhang gives people is often tall, steep and magnificent. Yungbulagang is located in the southeast of Tsetang Town of Lhoka Prefecture, standing on the Peak of Tashitsering Mountain on the eastern bank of the Yarlong River. It is said that it was built by Bon religion believers for Nyatri Tsanpo, the first generation of Tibetan King, in 2nd century BC. Thus, this palace has become the Tibetan King's palace for successive dynasties. Until the 7th Century AD, the 33rd generation of the Tibetan King Songtsan Gampo unified the plateau and moved the capital to Lhasa. Yumbu Lhakhang Palace has become Songtsan Gampo's Summer Palace in the south mountain. Yumbu Lhakhang Palace mainly worships the Buddha statue of Shakyamuni. Murals inside the palace vividly depicted the historical story of the first king, the first building and the first piece of arable land of Tibet.
