    High altitude sickness:High Altitude Sickness (Acute High Led Diseases, AHAD), when people arrive at a certain altitude, their body will try to adapt to the pressure caused by the change in atmospheric pressure, air humidity, and the reduction of oxygen supply. This may result in Headache, chest tightness, abdominal distention, diarrhea, loss of appetite, tiredness, fatigue, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, nosebleeds, the lip em-purples, insomnia, blood pressure increases, dizzy, limbs numb , etc, and these symptoms. If the elevation of an area is around 2700 meters or over 2700 meters, one may suffer from High Altitude Sickness. The symptoms of High Altitude Sickness may gradually ease or disappear after one or more days. High altitude sickness will be reduced by taking in oxygen keeping calm and taking pain relief of the medicine which are recommended by your doctors. The reaction of high altitude varies from person to person, in general, for a plateau adaptable person, the general symptoms of High Altitude Sickness may be eliminated in 1 to 2 days. However, it may take 3 to 7 days for others to adapt the higher altitude.


    Some useful tips:Drink enough water. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day for preventing from the problem of dehydration which is often caused by the higher rate of water vapor lost from the lungs at high altitude areas.

    Keep relax. We highly recommend you not to take shower at the first to second day of you arrive and you should have adequate sleep.

    Train is a better choice for you to gradually adapting the change in altitude.

    If you do suffer from relatively serious altitude sickness, please take the medicine which is recommended by your doctors and it is better for you to bring the medicine with you during your travel in Tibet.  You may wish to change your plan of coming to Tibet if you are suffering from flu or common cold before your departure.
